Explore Royal Rajasthan Desert Tour Attractions in India

The Thar Desert located in western Rajasthan covers a vast area of a quarter of a million sq km. It is dotted with small villages and two cities one of which is Jaisalmer and the other Bikaner. Rajasthan desert packages from Mhara Rajasthan offers a unique glimpse into the life of the people here in an inhospitable landscape.

The dramatic view of sand dunes which stretch to the horizon is unlike anything else that most tourists have seen. The desert is, however, the cradle of a culture that is vibrant and picturesque. The area between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer is the Desert National Park that is open to tourists. Since it is close to sensitive borders, all tourists need to have a special pass.

The creeping sand dunes endlessly changing their shape is an enthralling sight among tourist places in India.

The Thar Desert, a novelty among the tourist attractions in India includes a visit to Bikaner and Jaisalmer.

Jaisalmer –

The extensive Jaisalmer Fort was built by Maharaja Jaisal in the 12th century. The city of Jaisalmer is located inside its ramparts. Built of golden sandstone, it is a treat to watch during sunrise and stands on top of the Trikulla Hills. There are four entrances to the fort guarded by huge canons. Inside you will be able to find palaces, lakes, and temples. The Raj Mahal is a must see among the various buildings.

The other renowned places to visit include the Patwon ki Haveli, a mansion that took three generations to build. Of course, a camel ride into the desert remains the high point of any trip here.

At the entrance to the city is the Gadisar Lake. It was dug in 1367 to provide water to the town. Jaisalmer is well known for the Desert Festival held in February of each year.

Bikaner –

Situated at the outskirts of the Thar Desert it was built by Rao Bika Ji. The town is dominated by the huge Junagarh Fort. Bikaner is well known for its colorful bazaars that become alive every evening with the playing of soulful tunes by local musicians. Situated 350 km from Jaipur, it has one of the largest camel farms in Asia. The city has so much to show to sightseers from massive forts to grand mansions and tranquil lakes.

If you wish to enjoy the charm of the subcontinent, then your trip will be incomplete without a visit to the deserts of Rajasthan.
